Extruded Heat Sink
Heat Sink
Extruded, milled, stacked and die-cast aluminum heat sinks with optional heat pipe integration – manufactured to drawing for power electronics, HPC and industrial drives.
ALVC manufactures custom aluminum heat sinks using all common production methods. From simple extruded profiles to high-performance skived-fin structures – we advise technology-independently and deliver the thermally and commercially optimal solution for your application.
All heat sinks are manufactured to customer drawings, with optional heat pipe integration (press-fit or soldered), surface treatment (anodizing, powder coating), and 100% helium leak testing for integrated heat pipe systems.
Manufacturing Technologies Overview
- Extruded Heat Sink: Most cost-effective method for high-volume production. Aluminum is pressed through a die, creating longitudinally aligned fins. Ideal for linear cooling tasks, low production depth and long component lengths.
- Skived Fin Heat Sink: Extremely fine fins for very large surface areas in minimal space. Fins are cut from a solid aluminum block — no thermal contact resistance between base and fin. Ideal for high heat flux densities.
- Milled Heat Sink (CNC Milling): Maximum geometric freedom. Complex geometries, pin-fin structures and undercuts possible. Optimal for prototypes and small-to-medium series with individual shapes.
- Zipper Fin / Folded Fin Heat Sink: Stamped and folded aluminum fins are soldered or bonded to the base plate. Enables very high fin densities (up to 30 fins/cm) and is frequently used in combination with heat pipes.
- Die-Cast Heat Sink: Shape-forming through die casting for complex 3D structures and high volumes. Suitable for integrated housings with embedded cooling channels. Limited fin fineness, but very high design freedom.
- Bonded Fin Heat Sink: Individual aluminum fins are bonded to a base plate with thermally conductive adhesive or by soldering. Enables the largest fin areas and is optimal for forced-air cooling in high-performance applications.
